How many years to be ancient tree Pu-erh tea?

Ancient tree Pu-erh tea is actually not a particularly rigorous concept, at least not currently. Ancient tree Pu-erh tea, as the name implies, is a tea made from fresh leaves picked from an ancient tea tree.
So how old is a tea tree called an ancient tree?

The current research in the natural sciences is not conclusive, and the determination of the age of the tea tree is also a problem, so “old tree Pu-erh tea” is actually not a scientific concept.

But fortunately, we have found a possibility that “old tree Pu-erh tea” can be explained from the perspective of humanities. Yunnan has been in an unstable state for a long time from the end of Qing Dynasty to the liberation, and the very long cycle of economic behavior of planting tea trees should not be carried out during this period. So there is at least 50 years of breaks in the middle, then the tea trees planted before the break period can be called “ancient tea trees”, so the term “ancient tea” becomes reasonable.

Since the 1980s, Beijing, Hubei, and Shanghai have enacted laws to protect ancient trees. On May 14, 1986, the Beijing Municipal Government issued the “Interim Measures for the Protection and Management of Ancient and Famous Trees”.

On this basis, on June 5, 1998, the Standing Committee of the Beijing Municipal People’s Congress passed the “Regulations on the Protection of Ancient and Famous Trees in Beijing”, which has historical value and commemorative significance for ancient trees over 100 years old and precious and rare ones. The famous wood legislation is protected.

In Beijing, trees that have grown for more than 100 years are considered ancient trees, and Yunnan has not looked into the age-defining age of ancient tree Pu-erh tea. However, many governments have called trees older than 100 years as ancient trees, and tea trees are also trees. Will break away from the age category of ancient trees.
